The Box:

February is the month of love and I was excited to see what Fair Treasure would send to celebrate this romantic time of year. My shipment arrived in a branded box with the contents carefully wrapped inside. Also included were detailed cards that described each of the featured items. Let’s check them out!

Greenola Style Calypso Ring
Value: USD $16.00

This gorgeous ring is handmade in Bolivia by local women entrepreneurs using up-cycled metals. Greenola Style is a fair trade organization that empowers women and helps them rise above poverty. The ring features an eye-catching Adventurine Green semi-precious stone against a silver colored plate.  I love the earthy bohemian look of this piece!

Sanctuary Spring / Good Paper Valentine’s Love Cards
Value: USD $4.99

This adorable card is absolutely perfect for Valentine’s Day! Sanctuary Spring exclusively employs women who are escaping prostitution in the Philippines. These artisans create one-of-a-kind recycled handmade cards with a touch of whimsy. This playful doughnut card made me smile and I can’t wait to give it to someone special. 🙂

Global Mamas Slippery Slope African Shea Body Butter
Value: USD $12.00

A good shea butter can work wonders on your skin! This lovely vanilla-scented shea body butter was handmade in Ghana and packaged in locally made plastic screw-top containers. Global Mamas is comprised of thousands of people worldwide working to create prosperity for African women and their families.

Total value: USD $32.99

  • Greenola Style Calypso Ring – USD $16.00
  • Sanctuary Spring / Good Paper Valentine’s Love Cards – USD $4.99
  • Global Mamas Slippery Slope African Shea Body Butter – USD $12.00

Fair Treasure totally delivered on a box of handmade global goods that would make any woman happy this Valentine’s Day! My favorite item is the Sanctuary Spring card because it has such a touching story behind it (not to mention the card is adorable). I’m constantly impressed with the unique selection of gifts that Fair Treasure sends each month.

I have always enjoyed reading your Fair Treasure reviews. Love the mission statement,”…and a brighter future for the people who made them.” I am impressed by the Calypso ring – the green stone is gorgoeus.

I subscribed to Fair Treasure for quite awhile, but I only liked one of the boxes I received as they tend to stick to certain vendors like glue, and quality issues arose quite often. I question a lot of the “value” attached to many subscription boxes, and prices listed are up there with first-world production, but the quality issues were what finally drove me to cancel. If I’d contacted the company each time I had a problem, they would have assumed I was trying to get free stuff.

Hi Susan – Thanks for the comment. I’m so sorry to hear that you didn’t have a good experience with Fair Treasure. That type of customer service definitely doesn’t sound like the same company that I have grown to know and love. I personally have never had any issues with the quality of the items in the box.
