I stay active and lead a very healthy lifestyle, so I’m always on the hunt for nutritious products that enhance my performance and make me feel good. The August Bike Loot box arrived in a custom stamped package with the contents carefully wrapped in tissue paper. I love Bike Loot’s branding and inspirational messages for the rider in all of us. Also included with the box was a detailed card that described the featured items. Let’s check it out…
Picky Bars in The Need for Seed
Value: USD $2.30
During a long ride, it’s important to have the perfect snack that will help sustain your energy levels. Picky Bars are gluten and dairy-free energy bars that feature real, balanced food. Each bar has a 4:1 carbohydrate to protein ratio, slow releasing carbs for level blood sugar, minimal soy content, and healthy fats that make up 25% of the calories. The Need for Seed flavor has a smooth sunflower butter base, great texture and crunch – and it tastes amazing!
PowerIce in Lime Kicker
Value: USD $1.50
PowerIce is a frozen electrolyte snack helps aid in your hydration while providing 100% of your daily dose of Vitamin C. The product is relatively low calorie (30 calories) but it contains 8 grams of sugar, which is listed as the second ingredient. While the Lime Kicker flavor is refreshing, this item isn’t something I’d buy based on the list of ingredients alone. This product is essentially sugar water and not something I’d consume.
Acli-Mate in Colorado Cran-Raspberry
Value: USD $0.93
Acli-Mate Mountain Sport Drink delivers electrolytes through a special blend of vitamins and minerals. Rhodiola root, Schizandra berry and Ginko leaf extracts are added to the formula to help with acclimatization and mountain performance. The Colorado Cran-Raspberry variety is a tasty blend of tangy and sweet. This product is best used for a quick energy boost during an active climb or intense bike ride, versus a daily supplement.
Click Espresso Protein Drink in Mocha
Value: USD $2.95
Click Espresso Protein Drink is an all-in-one meal replacement that promises to increase energy and burn fat. This beverage contains 15 grams of protein, 23 vitamins and minerals and two shots of espresso. While the idea of combining your morning cup of coffee with a protein shake is genius, there are other protein powders on the market with better ingredients and more protein per serving. The big deal breaker for me was the fact that fructose is listed as the third ingredient.
ShowerPill Antibacterial Wipe
Value: USD $1.00
The ShowerPill is a super convenient way to feel clean on-the-go. This 9″ x 8″ athletic body wipe is thick, durable and large enough to cover your entire body. The wipe is proven to kill germs and it’s infused with moisturizing aloe vera and Vitamin E. I found the light scent to be pleasant and I love that the quick drying solution doesn’t require extra rinsing. In your active life, ShowerPill helps you stay fresh all day long. I plan to always keep one of these convenient packets in my gym bag and car.
Total box value: USD $8.86

I think the idea behind Bike Loot is fabulous! It’s so cool to have a subscription service geared towards cyclists. The items in the August box were hit and miss for me, but I still enjoyed discovering new products. My favorite item this month is the ShowerPill Antibacterial Wipe. My boyfriend and I went camping this past 4th of July holiday. There were no showers at the campground and ShowerPill would have been a total life saver. Based on the total value of the products, you are paying a premium at $12.95 (3 month rate, including shipping) per month. If you love being introduced to up-and-coming brands, then it may be worth your while. And of course, if you know someone who loves to ride, gifting them with a Bike Loot subscription would totally make their day.
